Victorian house in Baker neighborhood brought back to life
As an architect who designs things from the ground up, Roger Day has an eye for detail.
But he also has an eye for the potential of existing buildings, even ones in need of repair, refurbishing and outright rehabilitation.
And that’s what he found in 1990, when he was house-hunting in the Baker neighborhood on a stretch of South Bannock Street.
A quarter-century later, it’s now a two-story charmer in its 123rd year. It even stars on historic-home tours. Day and his wife, Evelyn, have poured plenty of sweat equity into it, transforming it into a little gem through a mix of tough love and TLC.
Not bad for a place that was once only a fit home for squirrels.
